Holland Griswold

Early Winter Park settler and renowned agriculturalist

Holland and Lorinda Griswold came to Florida from Kansas. In 1886 they purchased property on Lake Sylvan and constructed a house there. A prominent agriculturalist, Griswold was primarily a grove man who also grew vegetables on his property. He was a cousin of the Reverend E.P. Hooker, a Congregational minister who served as the first president of Rollins College. Miss Mary Brown was a neighbor of the Griswolds. The Ward family later occupied and purchased the house.
